Wonderful rebound...
A student wrote and sent me this…
There is more to our life, our career than the scores of any test. We tend to make an identity out of that score and think that it will make us a better person(hierarchically) to have achieved it. Then we try to associate our identity with what comes next. This keeps going on and there comes no end to it. We stop asking questions from ourselves and keep on going on this pre-decided path achieving scores/designations/promotions. We do what we are told to do, moulded into whoever they want us to be. And we may think that the next achievement will make it better but it is the same all over again.
What’s more to life is that we accept whatever knowledge/skill we have and whoever we are, be confident that we can create an impact without a stamp. We are afraid of the what ifs but the thing is we are not alone in this. People who have made an impact with their work have gone through self doubt and still did it. They are not gifted. They overcame their resistance and weren’t afraid to try. We need to stop regretting over the past and overthink about something that may or may not happen if we don’t even try. We don’t need anything to start. It can be however small but it is a start and if we proactively engage with the work we no longer will need a validation. There is no need to fit in if we just love ourselves and start asking questions about all the actions we take and get out of the uncertainty. It is not a fantasy world that people will ask for our service on their own without having no idea what we can create.
