The deer in the headlights.
The driver doesn't set out to hurt a deer. He's just trying to get to his destination.
The deer, too, wasn't planning to run into a car. It was simply on its path, maybe looking for food or trying to find its way back home.
But somehow, the two cross paths. And now, both are in danger.
Maybe they both get hurt. Maybe only one. Or, by chance, they both escape unharmed.
The thing is: no one set out to harm the other.
Depending on the story you tell, you may see yourself as the deer or the driver, or you may choose to see that this is just "the way things are".
