Proximity and goals.

What change do you seek in your life? What actions will help you move towards that change? What stops you from taking those actions?

Our brain is wired to pay attention to things that are in immediate proximity. It is not wired to ignore the current stimuli and refocus on the things that matter to us.

More often than not, the things in our proximity distract us from our goals. The more time we spend in unnecessary conversations, the more unsolicited information we receive from news, social media and other sources, the less proclivity we would have to start taking action towards our goals with intention.

We can start by becoming aware of our goals and putting them in a space where we can see them. We can also hire a coach who can help us bring our goals in proximity on a regular basis. And we can become aware of things that come in our proximity that take us away from our goals.
