The traditional career and the modern career.
What’s the difference between a traditional career and a modern career?
In both, other humans pay us money to get some work done.
In the first, mostly those humans are hiding behind organanisations and they are not hiring another human, they are hiring a resource. The whole mechanism is de-humanising. Everything needs to be fungible. There is nothing unique we are expecting from anyone. All you can do is to mould and conform yourself to what is expected.
The modern career is about individuality. About being unique. About creating value that no one else can create. About initiative. About generosity. At the core of it, other humans will pay us money to get some work done. But here we are more accountable. We need to be effective. We need to bring about change.
