The intention to finish
There is a significantly different quality of mind when our intention is to finish something. Most of the time this quality is evading us.
Thinking about a decision and deciding something are very different. The thinking can go on indefinitely and it is that which brings a lot of pain. We keep going over the scenarios again and again, feeling that we are being productive, but in reality, that intent to get out of that situation is not really present.
On the other hand, deciding is like ripping off the bandaid. It’s done. You are not going to put the bandaid back again and rip it off again.
The lazy or high frequency part of our brain is obsessed with the status quo, and the way it can maintain the status quo is by making us think and think more. This thinking is the primary cause of misery.
