Shifting gears.

There is a big difference between working on things that life throws at us and initiating something new.

The skill to initiate is rare indeed. Most of us have been trained from school to do what we are assigned instead of being an impresario and creating something out of thin air.

That's the challenge of being a creative or an entrepreneur. You bring something into existence out of nothing. You learn from the world around you and see how you can make things better.

The challenge is that when a creative starts a project, no one is waiting for it.  There is rarely an external deadline or pressure to ship.  A creative has to create her own structures to counter these challenges. She has to set a shipping date. She has to put herself on the hook.

It's the desire to ship that forces a creative into action and that makes the world a better place.
