States of consciousness.
At times, we experience a version of the self which is content and secure. It is not afraid. It wants to be generous, to take risks and to be on the hook. It seeks to ask, “How can I be a contribution here?”
Then, we also experience a version which needs or wants something. Maybe it’s hungry or under-slept or is craving more love and attention. Maybe, it’s afraid and telling itself a story that it’s drowning.
This one finds it very hard to be a contribution. Most of the times, it is only able to ask “What about me?”
More often than not, we struggle because we make decisions from the latter consciousness whereas we need to shift ourselves into a better space mentally.
What we can ask when we are feeling low is what would help me feel more content, what would help me feel better.
The answer that comes instantly might not be the answer that serves us best. But if we observe and listen, we will know what we need.
