As freelancers and entrepreneurs, we invest a lot in becoming skilled at what we do, whether it is art, design, coding or anything else.
But few of us intentionally invest in becoming skilled at marketing and sales.
If we don't consider sales as a key component of our business, we are inadvertently treating our work as a hobby, hoping to hit the (social media) lottery one day.
To build these skills, we can get started by reading This is Marketing by Seth Godin and Ziglar on Selling by Zig Ziglar. And we can create an in-person or online group of 3-5 freelancers who practice these skills regularly with each other.
If we are going to be the CEOs of our business, we need to start acting like one.
