Resolving ambiguity.
Ambiguity is the reason behind procrastination, more often than not. And we try to resolve this ambiguity in our head or by talking to someone. Sometimes, very rarely, we see through it, but most times, it leads to even more clutter.
The reason is that thinking and talking are not designed for depth. You can’t freeze your thoughts in your head and go back to them, nor can you freeze your words in a conversation. Every time you repeat the same thought, it seems like it is a new one.
On the other hand, when you write and share, you are on the hook. You can go deep into the problem at hand, you can look at the different alternatives. You can get to a decision.
It is a really good habit to sit down and write the morning pages and even better to share it with friends. (A simple email to 5 will do)
Try it out.
