Physical and digital tools.

Many creatives are asked if they prefer digital tools for their work or physical tools.

I think that it is not an “or” question, rather it is an “and question”.

Both physical and digital tools have their pros and cons and the preference would depend on the situation.

Digital tools (eg. Roam Research, Discourse, Dropbox Paper, etc.) can be extremely useful in writing down your thoughts and sharing them with others. They help in collaborating in effective manner with people across the world.

On the other hand, if you are overwhelmed or your to-do list keeps on expanding, using a single sheet of paper to write down the things on your mind can be extremely useful.

Similarly, if you are getting distracted by websites and apps, taking 20 minutes to write on a physical notebook can get you into the zone.

It’s important as creatives to identify the right tools for the right situation and to keep them handy.
