Pending emails or going awol.

This is seldom a problem for someone who is working within an organisation. Their job mostly revolves around replying to emails and ensuring that nothing gets left un-replied.

On the other hand, for a solopreneur, there is no defined deadline and no hierarchical structure to ensure that we keep our email boxes sorted. And this makes it even more important for the solopreneur to building the skill to respond to or send any communication before it's due.

The challenge in developing this skill is that each of these tasks requires emotional labour because there is a possibility of a feeling of rejection once we send it.

However, the more we delay the communication, the more harm it does to our reputation as a professional, not only in the other person's eyes but also in our own. And our reputation as a professional is what sustains us as a solopreneur doing generous work.

PS. We are organising an open workshop coming Tuesday to help solopreneurs set up an effective sales system. Check it out at lu.ma/curious.
