Overcoming emotional labour.
When we are good at something, when we know that we are good at it, emotions hardly play a role in how we approach it. On the other hand, when we struggle with something, the biggest challenge is to overcome the emotional hurdle.
A student who is good at maths sees the problem as it is, sees what can be done to solve it and gets to the answer. There are no clouds, no fog, no anxiety. On the other hand, give the same question to someone who is afraid of maths and they see a completely different picture.
One way to overcome the emotional challenge is to find the minimum viable change that can help us overcome the emotions once and set an example that we can refer to whenever the emotional challenge comes up.
