That’s all we can do.
A lot of stress in life comes when we try to do more than one thing at a time.
Our brain is not designed to work with instant messaging and social media and notifications. It just can’t function that way.
Instant messaging is for the brain what fast food is/was for the body.
And now we are consuming it every moment.
Maybe, it may make sense to skip it. To not be accessible.
To be able to do the thing that you want to do. Without getting distracted.
We can stay in touch without needing to reply in an instant.
