Making better decisions.

When we make decisions, the status quo has a big advantage because change is ambiguous and scary.

And hence, even when we need to make a decision, we many times choose not to or put it off for later.

One way to counter this is to look at the status quo as a new option instead of looking at it as the way things are.

If you had already left your job, would you join back given that you know how it makes you feel and what it pays?

If you had already sold your car, would you buy the same one for the amount someone is willing to pay for it?

If you had already ended your relationship, would you start dating the same person again given what you know about him/her now?

Once we start looking at decisions from this perspective, we can choose the one that makes sense to us rather than the one that emotions and fear of loss and fear of change make us choose.
