Good enough to ship?
Done is better than good.
~ Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic.
Done is, of course, better than perfect.
Perfect is a trap. It's a figment of our imagination. It doesn't exist. It can't exist. It only exists to keep us from shipping.
But, done is also better than good.
A bad blog published is better than a good blog that remains in your head or in your drafts. A bad blog can lead to a better blog and over time some good blogs might slip through.
If we strive for good every time we ship, we might not ship enough for our work to become good.
This doesn't mean that we ship junk or don't meet spec. It means that we define the spec and make it good enough to ship.
This blog isn't perfect. But it might be good enough to ship.
As Seth Godin says, "Good? Enough!"
