Overcoming perfectionism.
Perfectionism is resistance's way of delaying our journey. It gives the illusion that the work is about choosing the perfect project rather than working on the one that's in front of you.
What gives this more power is that starting projects is easier and switching projects is tremendously attractive when you are facing the dip in the current one.
The initial phase of exploration, ideation, and figuring things out is always more fun than working through what we have already figured out.
But then, there is an action step that makes the journey irreversible, where going forward is much more likely than going back or staying put.
Once we commit to a project, it makes sense to travel light and get to the other side as soon as possible. We do this by finding the minimum action steps needed to be taken to be on the hook, to make the project live, and to make it irreversible.
Few things that help in doing this: Setting ship dates, involving people who you can't back out from, and most importantly, committing yourself to the project both intellectually and emotionally.
