Embracing the finishing mindset.

Done is better than good.
- Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic

The planning mindset is addictive. It is a devious trap of procrastination because it gives the illusion of progress without anything happening. It's motion without action.

Planning and preparation can help but not in the prime time, not when we need to be shipping, not when we need to be getting things done, not when we need to get in front of the next prospect.

Entrepreneurship and creativity are like setting up the train tracks while driving the train on them. It's tempting to lay down all the tracks first and only then start running the train.

But it seldom works that way. We learn with each iteration, each micro-project that is completed. We need to embrace this iterative process instead of looking for the perfect plan to execute.

The more we ship, the faster we iterate, the more effective we become. The more we delay, the more we get entangled with perfectionism, the more unlikely is that we would make progress.

It's very hard to get back on the train once we are off it. If we keep the train moving, we are also more likely to get the tracks ready in time.
