Getting done for the day.

When we are working on our own, there are two ways we can get closure over the day. Both are complementary and can be used in tandem. The two ways are: 3-hours a day and The one most important thing for the day.

Many days, we do not have clarity over what needs to be done before we sit down to do our work. At times, our work just needs us to sit down and write.

The way to get over this ambiguity is to focus on getting 3 hours of work done in a day using a timer. This way we can work on ambiguous projects having no clarity and still feel a tangible progress.

By using a timer, we can have a clear beginning, a clear end and a clear achievement at the end of the day. Some days we can achieve breakthroughs, some days we might not. But at the end of the day, we would know that we showed up.

Once we start gaining clarity over our project, we can focus on getting done with one most important task for the day which helps us in forward motion. Building a streak of this kind of daily actions can help us gain significant ground in our projects.

Over time, we keep going back and forth as we tackle varying levels of ambiguity in our projects and work. Working 3-hours a day can give us consistency and momentum while finishing one important task a day can help us gain ground.
