Do incentives help or harm?

Is it easier to do a diet when you are highly motivated? When you really, really want those abs?

Is it easier to find a better job when you are really, really hating your current one?

The question is: Would you still be this motivated in a couple of weeks?

The process of improving your health or improving your career is one of being consistent. If you are consistent, it doesn’t matter whether you love or hate your current job, you just keep working on making yourself better as a professional.

Obsessing with the outcome, the brand, the designation, the pay, the location, actually hampers our prospects of reaching these goals. These do not help when we sit down to read a book that will up our skills. They do not help when we sit down to write our blog.

The perceived distance between today’s workout and actually seeing the abs is a long one. And when we are obsessed with the abs, we can’t really enjoy the workout.
