Did you come first in the class?

The question in the title was asked of me over and over again.

The problem with the question is that there can only be one student who is first in the class.

Moreover, it is not really a question of excellence. You can be first in the class by being in a mediocre class.

The traditional schooling and upbringing reinforces the fixed mindset in us, again and again.

It would make sense to change the game from a fixed one to a growth one, from a finite one to an infinite one.

A better question would have been, “What did you learn today?”
