But, where's the parachute?
When we do a favour for a friend, somewhere in our mind, we are expecting them to do something about it. Maybe just even acknowledge it. But we want something in return.
This is the natural human tendency and this tendency is what the economic system is based on. To remove the ambiguity, we replaced the return with money. It made more sense.
So when the bread company does us a favour by sourcing the raw material, processing it and delivering it, we return the favour by paying them the 20 bucks that they charge for it.
That’s it. End of transaction. You get the bread. They get the money.
So, let’s come to the million dollar question, of how you can get a million dollars.
Simple, what are you going to give and to whom. You can give something small to a lot of people (like delivering their groceries) or big stuff to a small group of people (like giving professional guidance for their career) or maybe big stuff to a big group of people (like selling cars).
What do you bring to the table? And who are you bringing it for?
Now, most of the time, we get lazy and say “Oh! That’s not for me to decide. That’s what my boss will decide.” In that case, this is the end of the story. There is nothing more to discuss here.
In the knowledge economy and the digital world that we live in today, the barriers of entry are gone. They are a thing of the past.
The only barrier to entry is trust. Trust is built by showing up, being a professional and being consistent. That is hard work.
But if you are willing to do the hard work. If you are willing to show up consistently. Everything will start falling into place.
You don’t need a parachute, you just need to jump.
